Two Important letters send to World Leaders

People's Declaration of Calendar Reform and Moral Referendum
World Summit on Peace and Time
University for Peace, Costa Rica June 22-27, 1999

The following two letters accompany the documentation of the World Summit on Peace and Time inclusive of the Declaration of Calendar Reform and Moral Referendum which will be personally delivered to Mr. Kofi Annan, Secretary-General of the United Nations and to His Holiness Pope John Paul II. To accomplish this objective two special peace missions have been deployed, one to the United Nations in New York and the other to the Vatican in Rome. Each of these special peace missions will be on vigil during the week of Gregorian July 12 - 17, Cosmic Moon 16 - 21, awaiting their appointed moment. Each of these special peace missions consists of four self-selected members, all participants from the World Summit on Peace and Time. The UN mission includes: Mr. Martin Zoller, Bolivia; Mrs. Rosalind Norris Diallo, France; Mr. Juan Jose "Sonne" Reyna, California; and Mother Tynetta Muhammad, Nation of Islam. The Vatican mission includes: Lic. Vandir Natal Casagrande, Brazil; Mrs. Consuelo Garcia-Vargas "Xilonen", Mexico; Lic. Valmir Gentil Aguiar, Brazil; and Mrs. Sara Imilmaqui Aguas, Mapuche Nation, Chile. The fulfillment of these missions will complete the long arduous task of bringing the issue of the reform of the current world civil calendar, the Gregorian Calendar, to the worldly authorities whose responsibility it is to invoke this reform on behalf of all of the peoples of the Earth. The issue of Calendar Reform has already been decided by the people and established as a worldwide movement already in tune with the cycles of nature and which has already embraced the Thirteen Moon Calendar of Peace. The peace missions represent a critical formality that deserves the support of all good hearted and well intentioned people worldwide.

Your Excellency:

On behalf of all of the esteemed participants of the World Summit on Peace and Time, we most respectfully request your acceptance of the arrival of the Peace Emissaries of the World Summit who have been authorized to personally deliver into your hands the "People's Declaration of Calendar Reform and Moral Referendum." Another team of Peace Emissaries is authorized to jointly deliver the same documentation to His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, of the Vatican. We further request that to assure the honorable and peaceful intentions of the World Summit on Peace and Time, that you take it upon yourself to personally be in communication with His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, regarding this matter so that there may be accord between the two of you and that the Peace Emissaries may be equally and honorably received with all due consideration to the seriousness of their mission.

We petition that you acknowledge the nature and sacred purpose of this mission and that, along with His Holiness Pope John Paul II, you jointly announce to the world, in a manner appropriate to your offices, that the Calendar Reform, inclusive of the Resolutions to accompany its implementation, has been prepared by representatives of the people of the Earth, to be effective July 26, 1999. By making an announcement of the intent of the Calendar Reform proposal on this date you will be taking a profoundly positive action for the benefit of all humanity.

The Calendar Reform corrects and harmonizes a fundamental institution which guides the conduct of our lives as citizens of the Earth. This Reform, therefore, represents the most significant unfinished business of the century. Timely action at this final moment of the millennium will redound to the great benefit of the intelligence and nobility of humankind. By overcoming all perceived difficulties to take action for its own betterment, humanity will establish a new and harmonious measure for reckoning its time on Earth, a measure which places the course of human civilization once again in accord with the universal cycles of nature.

The United Nations Charter, Article 1, paragraph two, states in part, that it is among "The purposes of the United Nations...to take other appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace." We all have aspirations for a millennium of peace. In consideration of the tragic fact that never was there a century more fraught with war and violence than that which is now ending, we must be open to all measures that may assure that the new millennium be a time of peace, in support of a culture of peace. Such a culture of peace can be better determined and anticipated if we are all in a new time. Only calendar reform can bring about a genuinely new time. Just as there is a time of war there is a time of peace. Humanity is thirsting for the opportunity to know real peace, a peace that is far more than just the absence of war. We know the challenges of such reform are great. However, if humanity has been able to mobilize for world war, why can it not mobilize for world peace?

The members of the Seven Commissions of the World Summit on Peace and Time have labored seriously and intensely to consider the implications of the Calendar Reform so that humankind can be delivered of the scourge of war and violence, and break the cycles of poverty and environmental degradation. The Seven Articles of Resolution are key points to consider how we may begin the process of constructing our future in the path and plan of Universal Peace and Justice. The participants of this World Summit pray that you consider deeply the opportunity now before you to take the Calendar Reform as a profoundly appropriate measure to strengthen Universal Peace.

The accompanying document, "Calendar Reform and the Future of Civilization," provides critical background information regarding the earlier history of calendar reform in this century. Please note that the Calendar of Peace, embodying the measure of thirteen equal months of 28 days each, has been the preferred calendar of reform. We know the time is ripe to understand that no longer can the objection be sustained that a day out of time will bring greater chaos and war to humanity, for we are already saturated with a culture of war and barbarism. Also note that July 25, 1999, will be the seventh annual day out of time celebrated by the people of the Earth and will be marked by celebrations and festivals promoting the actual reality of a culture of peace and universal forgiveness. Please join us in this great awakening!

The Peace Mission of the World Summit on Peace and Time concludes an action undertaken over the past six years to establish communication with the Holy See regarding Calendar Reform. In 1998, the Director of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences acknowledged our proposal. In presenting this Declaration of Calendar Reform, we have also carefully considered the Vatican's own Declaration of Calendar Reform, dated December 4, 1962. Is it not time to conclude this matter? We all have aspirations for a millennium of peace. In consideration of the tragic fact that never was there a century more fraught with war and violence than that which is now ending, we must be open to all measures to assure that the new millennium be a time of peace, in support of a culture of peace. We know the challenges of such reform are great. However, if humanity has been able to mobilize for world war, why can it not mobilize for world peace? Please, Holy Father, consider your responsibility to assist the world.

May the Year 2000 Jubilee be realized as a resurrection in a new time!
