Thailand is incresingly developing its international status internationally and domestically in many professional fields demanding fluency in the English language.
Ajarn Willard Van De Bogart has been involved in the United States, England, France and Southeast Asia in developing educational, corporate, and government strategies in new technology implementation, and English as a second language.
A theoretical paper establishing the foundation for using new technologies and education was published in 1990 by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Leonardo Journal.
In 1994 the internet was just beginning eventually leading to the implementation of a multi-level strategy in knowledge linking. This strategy was introduced into the Thai educational system in 2004 resulting in new search strategies for Thai profesionals and Thai students, and the results were published in the 10th International Thai Conference in January of 2008 at Thammasat University.
New techniques for teaching ESL in Thailand has focused on:
1. Conversational English
2. Internet learning
3. Search Engine Strategies
4. Negotiation skills for international business
5. Active learning
6. Game theory
Each of these areas has brought about a different set of skill sets to make learning English easier as well as to implement learned English skills on a real time basis with immediate classroom situations.
